Visitor Report(s)7 August 2003 First class camping site, cheap rates, clean toilets & showers.
The pub sells excellent food and it's not too expensive.
The fishing is good too.
Overall 5 stars from me.

Visited last weekend (May bank holiday 2005) and was very disappointed with the site facilities. Showers and washing up facilities weren't available at all on one morning (you couldn't even get a cold shower because they locked all the doors!). The following morning the showers were only open for a short time and the water was luke warm/cold. No soap in the toilets, overflowing rubbish bins outside, very noisy generator, grumpy staff.....basically no way to run a campsite!! The actual site is in beautiful surroundings but we wouldn't return.

27 June 2005 Visited 25 June 2005. Staff extremely rude and unhelpful. We were told we should leave by 11 am the following morning. We explained we wanted to go fishing the next day and there was a pause while they guesstimated the price- ?5 - When it is ?10 to stay overnight and we didnt even get there til 6pm which seemed a bit excessive!!! . Be warned- this is NOT the same place it used to be. If the people that own it do not want to be in the hospitality trade, then they should go and leave it to those that do. By the way - the generator is still v v noisy - and they police the campsite to check dogs are on leads all the time. We always clear up any mess our dog makes but even our dog was too shy to go to the toilet properly in fear of the warden staring at him which he did in a grumpy fashion most of the time - the warden not the dog! .
28 August 2006 Visited over Aug bank holiday 2006- WE WILL NOT RETURN. Staff were distant and not particularly helpful - a smile and welcome were certainly WAY too much effort. Taken to our pitch by a chugging great 4WD veh - for a 400yd walk . It made many more appearances over the w/e - felt v. intrusive. The site is big and the facilities poor. A single toilet block. The gents had 6 showers - 1 of which was broken , 6 toilet stalls, usually at least 2 devoid of paper. Single hand dryer - broken. 2 of the 3 days there were no showers, on the last day no hot water. The ladies\' ranged from 2 to all showers unavailable. The toilets did not always have tissue. In the main site field 3 portaloos - unlit - you can imagine how awful they were. Septic tank STANK. No lighting in the field and the walk across the field uneven. The elec. hook up pitches were small. Bins overflowed 2 days. No recycling. The pub itself was quaint; the staff were friendly and the food good if overpriced. Good beer -average price.
